The song's lyrics refer to Bono's character of of a soldier dying in Afghanistan after a roadside bomb has struck. This is signalled by the reference to poppies which are grown by the Afghans to make opium out of. Poppies have also become a remembrance symbol of war.

No Line on the Horizon Album Cover Art U2 - The Lugarian Sea

The U2 rumour mill has cranked into over drive with whispers that the album cover art for No Line on the Horizon will be 'The Lugurian Sea', a picture by an artist called Hiroshi Sugimoto.

As you can see it’s a greyscale image of an ocean with no line on its horizon. It could not be more of a contrast from Actung Baby!

U2 Heart Obama

U2, BEYONCÉ and Bruce Springsteen are among the musicians who will perform on Sunday at a free open-air concert at Washington’s Lincoln Memorial in advance of next week’s inauguration of Barack Obama.

Those celebrities and a ton of others have signed up to perform at "We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial," the first of many official events sponsored by the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

This is good publicity for U2 as they are due to release Get On Your Boots on Jan 19. No doubt they will play the new single off No Line on the Horizon.

The new U2 single, 'Get on your Boots' was released on Jan 19 2009 to itunes. It was not as well received as past first singles from U2 albums.

Rolling Stone Magazine had an early listen and declared "this blazing, fuzzed-out rocker picks up where "Vertigo" left off."

"It started just with me playing and Larry drumming," the Edge said. "And we took it from there."

Larry Mullen day job as a taxi driver

U2's Larry Mullen Jnr. has expressed he feels more like a taxi driver than a famous rocker as he ferries his kids around so much.

The Irish, and proud of it drummer made the revelation after being asked about a typical day away from the group.

Larry added: "There's rarely a day when there isn't something to do with the band. But a lot of the time I feel like I should put a cap on my head and a sign over my car with taxi written on it. "I spend a lot of time ferrying children, including other people's, to various houses.

Every Breaking Wave is the long talked about but as yet unreleased song left over from the sessions of the U2 album, No Line on the Horizon.

While talk is cheap, U2 have gone on and on about Every Break Wave. It is expected that it will eventually be released when U2 get into gear and finish the oft talked about album, Songs of Ascent.

Bono and co have talked about how they will record the the follow up album in the near future. I'm not holding my breath. U2 are booked to tour till at least the end of 2010. Maybe they will do a Zooropa on us and record in between concert dates. Again, no breath holding as Bono and the Edge are trying to lock down the Spider Man musical, Turn Off the Dark.
